Hi everyone!
I hope you’re all doing very well! Over here the weather has been a little warm to be honest! But still, we are excited to bring you some cool news.
Have you ever heard about what The Noble Eightfold Path is from ancient buddhist philosophy? It’s a practice, or a set of steps that is said to bring a person to a more enlightened state :0
But what does that mean? According to buddhism, it’s when you understand the nature of suffering and are released from it. For me, it’s when you live more in harmony with yourself and the world around you ๐ Being aware of how others (animal and human) feel and developing a love-kindness relationship with everyone.
Maybe it’s easiear to think about it if we look at the eight different steps:
- Knowledge
- Intention
- Speech
- Action
- Livelihood
- Effort
- Absorption
- Mindfulness
Most of the time these are preceded by the word “right”, as in “right knowledge”, “right intention”, etc… I didn’t want to add it to the game so it couldn’t be interpreted as there being a “wrong knowledge”, but it goes to say that when you align these aspects of life towards the well-being of others and yourself you will be able to live a more peaceful and fullfilling life.
I know that’s a lot! Hahah but imagine it like this: you can have the intention to do a big change in your life and the knowledge needed, but if you lack the effort, you won’t be able to make it. Or maybe you are a good talker, always act when you need with enough effort, but your intentions (maybe even unconsciously) are not on the right place, you’ll end up with with the wrong results.
What are my intentions? Am I well-informed? Do I use words in a correct and non-harmful way? Do I act when I need to? How do I sustain my life? Am I trying hard enough? Am I focused in what I’m doing? How are my feelings affecting me? These are some of the questions we should ask ourselves in order to follow this path of personal and spiritual growth.
I’m personally not a buddhist or anything. I just love learning about different philosophies in life, specially if they can help me become a better llama (or person), not matter wether you believe in it or not. Most of these can apply to our lives, both personally and socially.
You can learn more about this buddhist practice and wisdom by playing our upcoming puzzle and exploration game tittled The Eightfold Path, where you play as a buddhist monk on a path to enlightenment.
The Eighftold Path is coming out later this year! We were previously hoping to launch starting 2024, but unfortunately had to rework a good part of the game for reasons beyond ourselves. But this will enable us to optimize and launch on new possible consoles that will be announced soon ๐
Stay tunned!
